Road Weary Eagles Lose Two Over Weekend

KANSAS CITY, Missouri – Road wearied and down a starting player, the Eagles faced some tough challenges over the weekend in a pair of important conference matches. Facing down challenging opponents like the Calvary Warriors and Ozark Ambassadors was no easy task without starting setter Kenna Laib, whose presence on the court was missed greatly in the double defeat. With the losses on the road, the lady Eagles now sit back atop a neutral record for the season at 4 wins and 4 losses.

The determined lady Eagles couldn't find the edge in either game, having their energy shot down by service errors in several pivotal moments of the weekend. Blocking errors made up for some of the backslide too, with 9 total errors in the 3-1 loss to Calvary making it difficult to build momentum. Even with a stronger setting performance in the second match against Ozark, the Eagles were doomed once again by crippling service errors, conceding to the Ambassadors in three well-fought sets.

Holding strong for the Eagles was Sierra Udd, who took the role of primary setter on the floor. Tina Harms also stepped in to claim her spot on the team, entering off the bench against the Ambassadors, specifically with several needed kills. Rachel Kleczka retained her leadership throughout both losses, accounting for over a third of the teams kills in their first game (11 of the teams 29) and rallying her teammates on to some brilliant plays.

The Eagles will look to rebound against Oak Hills Christian College on September 24, at 7:00 P.M.
