Front Line of Emmaus Overpowers Faith Eagles
ANKENY, Iowa—The Faith Eagles volleyball team attempted to detour Emmaus's road to an undefeated season, but fell to the top-ranked team in the nation Tuesday night at the Nettleton Center, losing in three sets to Emmaus (14-0). It was the first time this season the Eagles have lost back-to-back games.
The frontline attack of the Emmaus Eagles was too much for Faith to handle as the squad from Dubuque showed why they're undefeated and ranked #1. Emmaus finished the game with 40 kills, with 14 in sets one and two, and 12 in set three.
Abby Booth led the Faith attack with four kills, while Alicia Smith and Ashley Dey led the defense with nine digs each. Mackenzie Hanson's three assisted blocks were the most in that statistical category. The Eagles held their own through the middle parts of each set, before giving way to the strength of Emmaus' front line.
Faith fell to 9-8 on the season with the loss, but looks to get back into the win column on Thursday night with a game against Mount Mary (1-9) at 8:00 p.m. in the Nettleton Center.
