Volleyball Improves to 8-6 with Win Over Union College
ANKENY, Iowa—The women's volleyball team has reached the halfway point of the season with a winning record, improving to 8-6 after a 3-0 win over Union College Tuesday evening in the Nettleton Center.
Abby Booth led the way for the Eagles with 11 points. Bethany Roberts had a career-high seven points backed by a team-high six service aces. She also finished second on the team with eight digs.
Set One
The first set was a back-and-forth contest featuring nine ties and nine lead changes. Union College called a timeout when the score was tied, 15-15, but Faith answered with four straight points before Union made it a one-point game at 19-18. The Eagles closed the set on a six-point run led by three kills from Alicia Smith, winning the set, 25-18.
Set Two
The Eagles stormed to a 3-0 lead after kills from Bekah Smith, Alicia Smith, and Ashley Dey. Three straight attack errors by the Eagles allowed Union College to tie it at three, but Faith dominated the rest of the set, gradually stretching the lead out to 11 points with the 25-14 win. Bethany Roberts had four of her six aces late in the set.
Set Three
Faith never trailed in set number three as Union College fell apart, making 12 errors (attack errors and service errors combined). The Eagles cruised to a 25-15 set win and have not lost back-to-back games since September 1, the opening weekend of the season.

The Eagles play their second and third games of a five-game home stretch Friday night against Barclay College at 7:00 p.m., followed by a contest with Manhattan Christian College on Saturday afternoon at 4:30 p.m.
