Honors Roll In for Faith Eagles Student-Athletes
ANKENY, Iowa—As the soccer and volleyball seasons draw to a close, All-Conference honors are rolling in for multiple Eagles athletes, including one of its entire teams.
In men's soccer, Cole Glanzer was named a first-team All-Conference performer. Glanzer led the Eagles with 18 points and was second on the team in goals. Caleb Sturgis, Chase Clark, and Andrew Baldwin were named second-team All-Conference. Sturgis was a team captain and a leader on an Eagles' defense that held eight teams to a goal or less. Clark led the team in goals (7), despite missing a portion of the season due to injury. Baldwin was second on the team in assists (5) and started all 17 games for the Eagles as a midfielder.
In volleyball, Alicia Smith and Bekah Smith were both named second-team All-Conference, while the entire team earned the conference's Sportsmanship Award. Alicia Smith led the team in digs (281), and was second on the team in service aces (38), and third in overall points (178.5). Bekah Smith led the Eagles in kills (156) and points (194). This is the second year in a row that the volleyball team has won the Sportsmanship Award.
The men's soccer team enters the regional tournaments as the number five seed and will face number four seed Maranatha at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday in Watertown, Wisconsin. Faith lost to Maranatha earlier this season, 2-0.
The women's soccer team (which doesn't have conference awards) enters the regional tournaments as the number three seed and will face number two seed Providence at 9:30 a.m. on Friday morning. The Eagles lost to Providence, 5-1, on October 4.
The women's volleyball team hosts the regional tournaments at Faith on Friday and Saturday. The Eagles will face Moody Bible Institute at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Faith lost to Moody, three sets to one, two weeks ago.
