Eagles Volleyball Earns Split During Weekend Road Trip

JOPLIN, Missouri—The Eagles volleyball team split a pair of games this weekend during a trip through Missouri, winning a 3-2 thriller on Friday night in Kansas City, followed by a 3-0 loss to a tough Ozark Christian team on Saturday afternoon.

Versus Calvary

Calvary took advantage of eight kills in the first set to secure a 25-18 win, but the Eagles battled back in set number two for a 25-22 victory, thanks to solid attack play which led to 10 kills.

Set number three was back in favor of the Warriors and a replica of the final score of the first set, with Calvary winning, 25-18, and the Warriors were just one set away from a win.

As they've done often in the early part of this season, the Eagles battled back, earning a heart-stopping victory in set number four, 27-25.

In the final, deciding set, the Eagles once again showed grit and determination, on the road, as they completed the thrilling come-from-behind victory, with a 17-15 win for the victory.

Abby Booth led the way for the Eagles with 10 kills and 11.5 points. Alicia Smith added three aces and 8.5 points, and Faith improved to 7-5 on the season with the win.

Versus Ozark Christian

On Saturday, the Eagles traveled to Joplin, Missouri, to face the Ozark Christian Lady Ambassadors (4-7).

The long week of three road games and stiff competition caught up to the Eagles in this one, with Ozark winning in three straight sets, 25-21, 25-15, and 25-16. With the loss, Faith fell to 7-6, but comes home for a much-needed five-game home stretch, beginning Tuesday night against Union College (1-6).
