2022-2023 Men's Basketball Season Review
The Eagle men ended their season with an overall record of 17-14 and a runner up finish at the conference tournament. Faith placed three on the all conference team and was selected as the conference sportsmanship recipient. The Eagles also place three on the NCCAA North All Region team and Chris Barnette was selected as an NCCAA First Team All American.
Injuries plagued the Eagles during the first semester, resulting in a 3-5 start to the season. The second semester saw the Eagles gain some consistency, allowing them to earn 14 wins during the second semester. Going into the Midwest Christian College Conference Tournament the Eagles were the #3 overall seed. Their first game was a nail-biting win against #6 Calvary University 75-74. The semi finals were more than exciting as the Eagles played #2 Ozark Christian College. Taking the Ambassadors into overtime, the Eagles won the game 93-90. The Eagles then matched up against#1 seed Manhattan Christian College once more for the MCCC Tournament championship. The Eagles took a lead into the half, but Manhattan proved why they would be the eventual national runner up as they defeated the Eagles 83-64.
Jared Pearson earned All-Conference Honorable Mention, Jayce Goergen earned Second Team All-Conference, Chris Barnette earned First Team All-Conference and team was awarded with the Sportsmanship Award.
The Eagles were motivated from their conference tournament as they headed to Dubuque, IA for the NCCAA North Region Tournament. The Eagles entered as the #3 seed and first faced the #6 Saints of Central Christian College of the Bible. A strong defensive effort from Faith resulted in a 67-54 win and a berth in the regional semifinal. Their next opponent was #2 seeded Crown College, who finished the previous year as the national runner up. Faith battled hard, but a 12 point run on four straight made three's from the Polars late in the first half proved to large of a gap to overcome, and the Eagles season ended with the loss to Crown.
Jayce Goergen earned Honorable Mention All-Region, Jared Pearson earned 3rd Team All-Region, and Chris Barnette earned 1st Team All-Region. The Men's Basketball North Region Coach of the Year was awarded to coach Brian Fincham.
The Eagles finished their season 17-14 overall.
The team award for Most Valuable Player was awarded to Chris Barnette, the Most Improved award went to Seth Freeman, and the Eagle Award to Jayce Goergen.
