Eagles Set New PR's and David Loveall Comes Within Seconds of School Record
Faith hosted five schools in the NCCAA North/Midwest Region Meet on Saturday, October 21, 2023.
Ankeny, IA- God gave us beautiful weather Saturday morning for the NCCAA North / Midwest Regional XC Meet held on the Faith's campus. Aside from a few troublesome wind gusts, the Eagles couldn't have asked for a better day.
It was nice for Eagles XC to have an opportunity to run against other Christian schools as Faith hosted Emmaus, North Central, Maranatha, Moody, and Grace. There were several good matchups that led to a few exciting finishes!
The men ran first at 10:00 AM. David Loveall led the race the entire way, finishing 2 minutes ahead of the second place finisher from Grace. David ran an incredibly tough race, completing the course in 27:24, just two seconds away from the Faith school record! David received the Men's Runner of the Region plaque for his first place finish. Conrad Lobb was second for the Faith men, running a great race of 29:58 and earning a spot on the 1st Team All Region Team alongside David. Caleb Murphy ran a 32:02, Andy Hackley ran a PR of 33:02, Max Johnston was at 33:36, and Ben Hackley and Daniel Subra were close to qualifying as individuals for Nationals with PRs of 34:18 and 34:35.
The women's race started at 11:00 AM as the wind gusts picked up and toppled several team camp tents during the race. Becca Hulinsky ran well at 21:39, placing her on the 1st Team All Region Team in 6th place. Lydia Mueller wasn't far behind with a 22:21. Elizabeth Beenken was up next in 23:39, followed by Karynna Ward, who was just 22 seconds away from National qualifying with a 24:52! Tina Lange, Caressa Kluver, and Jeannie Wilkinson all ran well with times of 27:14, 28:21, and 28:51 respectively.
Both the men's and women's teams finished third behind Maranatha and North Central. The Faith men's team was just 8 points behind Maranatha and one point behind North Central. The women's team finished 18 points behind Maranatha and 5 points behind North Central.
The Eagles are looking forward to their final regular season meet this Saturday in Joplin, MO before they head to Indiana for the NCCAA DII XC National Meet on 11/10. XC Eagles appreciate everyone who came out to cheer on the teams, and covet your prayers as they finish up the final few weeks of the 2023 XC season.
