Three Eagles Qualify for Nationals in Season Opening Meet
The men's and women's cross country teams traveled to Grinnell, IA, Saturday to compete in the Les Duke Invitational.
Grinnell, IA - It was a beautiful day at the Grinnell Les Duke Invitational on Saturday. It was the first race of the season for the Faith XC team, and everyone was excited to put their hard work from practice into a race.
The men's 8k was first at 10:00. Sophomore Conrad Lobb finished first for the Eagles with a time of 30:22, which qualified him to be able to compete at the NCCAA National Championship Meet in November! Following Conrad were David Loveall (35:38), Andy Hackley (35:59), and Ben Hackley (38:32) who all ran well despite some injuries and illness plaguing them.
The women's 6k was up next at 11:00. By that time, the sun was getting rather intense, making the hard run even more challenging for the ladies. Freshmen Becca Hulinsky and Lydia Mueller both ran excellent races finishing in 27:41 and 28:57 respectively. Their hard work during the race also qualified them to compete at Nationals in November! The rest of the Lady Eagles also ran hard: Elizabeth Beenken (32:33), Tina Lange (34:56), Jeannie Wilkinson (35:21), Caressa Kluver (36:22), and Karynna Ward (36:44).
The Eagles' next race is Friday, September 15 in Mason City, IA at the Trent Smith Invitational hosted by Northern Iowa Area Community College.
