Eagles Heating up at Dan Huston Invitational
Four runners set PR's for the Eagles on September 30, 2023.
It was unseasonably warm on Saturday in Waverly at the Wartburg College Dan Huston Invitational Meet. The race times were moved earlier by the host school in an attempt to complete the races before it got overly hot. There was a slight breeze, but it didn't make much of a difference with the heat. This was our biggest meet of the year, with 343 men and 234 women competing from across 21 colleges and universities.
The men ran first, with Ben Hackley setting a season personal record time of 37:41, finishing fourth for the Eagles squad. The women were up next, running a 6k distance for the second time this season. Caressa Kluver, Karynna Ward, and Tina Lange all set new season personal bests for the 6k distance with times of 33:32, 33:55, and 33:58 respectively.
The team is looking forward to a weekend off this Saturday as we prepare for the final 3 regular season meets in October before we head to Indiana for Nationals in November. Please pray for healing of injuries and continued strength and endurance as we press on through the many miles of training and racing for the next 6 weeks!
