
Eagles Set Three More Records At Dutch Invitational
PELLA, Iowa—The track and field season is hitting its stride at the midway point of the schedule. Most recently, the Eagles competed at the Central College Dutch Invitational on Saturday, April 9, against bigger schools like Simpson College, Truman State University, and the host school, Central College. Despite the stiff competition, the Eagles took advantage of the nicest weather of the spring, breaking three more school records.
The first school record set on Saturday was accomplished by the women's 4x100 team, consisting of Sadie Long, Anika Bausch, Sharon Yuan, and Rachel Haefka. The ladies finished third with a time of 59.69 seconds. The second school record was set in the final race of the day by the women's 4x400 team, consisting of Sharon Yuan, Anika Bausch, Sadie Long, and Kristin Yuan. The ladies set the mark with a time of 4:49.04.
Other notable performances included a third-place finish in the high jump by Sadie Long with a height of 1.45 meters, a fifth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles by Kristin Yuan with a time of 1:16.54, and a sixth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles by Sharon Yuan with a time of 1:22.71.
With their performances for the day, the women scored a school-record 23 points. The next meet for the Eagles is Friday, April 15, at the William Penn Invitational in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
