ALTOONA, Iowa—The Faith Eagles took a hard hit, but put up a good fight against the #16 team in NAIA Men's Soccer, the William Penn Statesmen.
The Eagles worked well together in the first half, keeping three shots out of the goal within the first seven minutes. But at 8:41, William Penn scored their first goal. Less than a minute later, the opposing team took a shot on the goal but it was saved by defender, Isaac Mosher. After five more shots (saved by goalie Jason Conable), William Penn made their second goal.
Faith held a strong defense for the remainder of the first half, keeping the score at 2-0 at halftime.
Three minutes into the second half, William Penn scored, marking the score at 3-0. Two more goals were made by the opposing team within the first 15 minutes (6-0). The Eagles fought to defend their goal, blocking 15 more shots and holding the score at 6-0 till the end of the game. With the loss, the Eagles fell to 5-6 on the season.
The Faith Eagles will be traveling to Springdale, Arkansas on Friday to play against Ecclesia at their home field at 1:00 p.m.
