ANKENY, Iowa—A hot shooting Central Christian College men's basketball team ruined Faith's first home game in over a month on Friday night, as they defeated the hometown Eagles, 85-74.
Central Christian shot an even 50% for the game, thanks in large part to their 42 points in the paint. Faith fell behind 8-0 to start the game and was never able to take the lead.
After trailing by as many as 19 points, the Eagles built some momentum in the second half of the game, outscoring CCC, 47-42. Jayce Goergen had one of his finest halves of the season, scoring 16 of his game-high 22 points.
Faith hopes to use that second-half momentum from Friday in its favor for a quick turnaround as the Eagles face Emmaus Bible College at 6 p.m. on Monday at the Nettleton Center. Faith defeated Emmaus last week by one point in a game that was decided in the final seconds.
