Team Pushes Through Difficult Running Conditions
It was a hot, sweltering day Saturday for the cross country meet at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, IA, but the Faith XC team pushed through and ran well. The breeze coming off the lake that was located on the course provided some relief from the heat for the runners.
On the women's side, Junior Wendy Busenitz and Sophomore Abigail Blomberg both ran well, finishing the 6k race in the top ten. Busenitz's time of 25:45 earned her the second place finish overall. Freshman Abigail Lobb was not feeling well and wasn't able to compete, however she was a great help cheering on her teammates throughout the race!
The men ran strong, led by Senior Dewey Rapson and Junior Josiah Genung. Genung's time of 37:47 was his season best, despite the difficult racing conditions. Freshman Tyler Dingle and Senior Nathan Bruce also ran hard, but the heat took its toll on everyone.
The cross country team will race again this Saturday at Wartburg College. The team is praying for healing for the runners that are suffering from lagging injuries.
