Rapson Qualifies for Nationals
Faith's cross country team was at Grinnell College Saturday morning for their second meet. The rolling hills of the course would prove to be a challenge for the participating runners, but the team persevered through the race.
Junior Wendy Busenitz was the only runner for the Faith women's team to compete due to injuries and various conflicts for the others. Busenitz completed the 6k course in a time of 25:28.
Senior Dewey Rapson led the Faith men's team in the 8k run, finishing well under the NCCAA qualifying time, crossing the finish line in a time of 32:35! Rapson will now join Busenitz in Mississippi in November for the National Cross Country Meet.
Junior Josiah Genung and Senior Nathan Bruce ran near each other for most of the race. Freshman Tyler Dingle started the race but, unfortunately, had to step off the course at around the 2-mile mark due to a calf muscle injury.
The Eagles are praying for healing for all team members suffering from injuries and hoping they will recover in time for their next meet Saturday, September 16, which will be hosted by Faith Baptist Bible College. Faith is excited for the opportunity to host the meet and hopes to see as much of the Eagle Nation fanbase at course to cheer on the team at 8:30 AM.
