Blomberg Beats National Qualifying Time
Faith Cross Country participated at the NIACC cross country meet in Mason City, IA on Friday. An hour before race time, lightning and the sounds of thunder filled the air, but the light rain storm passed quickly, allowing the race to continue as scheduled.
The course was as flat as Faith's home course, which helped the ladies all run excellent times. Junior Wendy Busenitz ran a very solid consistent pace throughout the race, and Freshman Abigail Lobb had a solid first mile and worked hard the next two miles to stay as close to that pace as possible. Sophomore Abigail Blomberg was the highlight of the meet for the Lady Eagles, as she pushed hard to beat the qualifying time for nationals, and crushed it by 28 seconds, running the 5k course in a time of 24:02!
The men had a fast start and competed well throughout the race. Senior Dewey Rapson finished the course first for the Faith men, running a season best time! Freshman Tyler Dingle, Junior Josiah Genung, and Senior Nathan Bruce all ran hard, but came up a little short of the national qualifying time.
The final regular season meet for the team is in two weeks at Ozark Christian College in Joplin, MO.
