Slow Offense Gives NCU Edge Over Faith
The Lady Eagles' offense struggled Tuesday night in a contest against North Region opponent North Central University (Minneapolis, MN). The Rams' strong scoring performance, led by three players who finished in double-digit scoring, had no trouble finding their way to a 76-39 win.
Faith found themselves down by just four at the end of the first quarter; however NCU went on to outscore the Eagles 43-15 in the second and third quarters to put comfortable distance between themselves and the Eagles. The Ram's 76-39 victory pushes the Eagles' record below .500, at 6-7. North Central shot an overall 50% from the field, including 41% from behind the arc, compared to Faith's 25% shooting night.
Lyndi Shepard was the top scorer for Faith with 13 points. Shannon Steffen and Mackenzie Hanson each contributed 9 points, and Mackenzie also added 8 rebounds. Aubree Smith was able to force turnovers on the defensive end and came away with 8 steals.
The Lady Eagles are back on their home court this Friday, January 26 at 6 PM. They will take on Central Christian College of the Bible (Moberly, MO) in another conference matchup. The Eagles will be honoring Senior Shannon Steffen following the game.
