Eagles Cruise Past KCC in Final Regular Season Game
In the previous meeting with Kansas Christian College, the Eagles narrowly escaped with a victory despite playing a player up the majority of the second half. When the two teams faced off again on Saturday, Faith would have the upper hand the full forty minutes, as they played five-on-four the whole game. The Lady Eagles had no trouble handling the Falcons in a 66-28 win.
Capitalizing on their advantage, the Eagles built an impressive 43-13 lead to take into halftime. Freshman Lyndi Shepard led the Eagles in that half with her 17 points, coming in large part off her 4-5 shooting from three-point range in the second quarter. Faith extended its lead by ten in the third quarter before ending with a quiet final ten minutes from both teams. Faith's 66-28 victory concludes their regular season, finishing their overall record at 8-11.
Lyndi Shepard led the Eagles in scoring with her 17 points and also added 5 assists. Michaela Crider followed close behind with 14 points and 9 rebounds. Bekah Smith and Janet Busenitz each ended with 8 points and 7 rebounds. Another freshman Aubree Smith padded the rebound and assists column as she finished with 10 rebounds and 7 assists.
As they move into the MCCC Conference Tournament, the Lady Eagles find themselves as the #6 seed. They will face the #3 seed CCCB (Moberly, MO) on Thursday morning in the first round of the tournament hosted at Manhattan Christian College (Manhattan, KS).
