Lady Eagles Host Final Game of Semester
The Lady Eagles played their final game of the semester last night against Nebraska Christian College. Faith quickly realized that the Sentinel's size inside would require them to be smart in their shot selection, as Nebraska Christian had 6 blocks in the first quarter, including 5 from the 6'3" center Kayla Bloodworth. The Eagles trailed 23-10 after the first ten minutes. The Sentinels started to pull away in the second quarter, shooting 57% from the field opposed to Faith's 29%. The Eagles entered halftime trailing 47-24.
After the Sentinels extended their lead to 63-32 by the end of the third quarter, Faith came out in the fourth quarter and played well as a whole, limiting their turnovers and shooting 7-17 from the field. Nebraska Christian would ultimately grab a 77-50 win over the Eagles, led behind Kayla Bloodworth's triple-double of 26 points, 18 rebounds, and 13 blocks.
Lyndi Shepard contributed 16 points to the Eagles' cause, Michaela Crider added 12. Shannon Steffen finished with 8 points and 8 rebounds. Mackenzie Hanson, also ending with 8 points, gathered 13 boards for Faith.
The Eagles look forward to the Christmas break, hoping that many of the players suffering from injuries will have time to heal. They will resume play on January 12, 2018, at home against Calvary University in what marks the beginning of a long stretch of conference play.
