Men Can't Overcome Tough First Half
For thirty minutes Saturday afternoon the Eagle men struggled to get anything going on either end of the court, resulting in a nearly 30 point deficit with 10 minutes to play. The final 10 minutes of the game the Eagles finally rallied but ran out of time, as host Central Christian College of the Bible handed the Eagles their second MCCC loss. Faith fell by a 69-81 final score, dropping to 8-7 on the year.
Neither team could score early in the game with the score knotted at five apiece five minutes into the half. CCCB got things going with a quick 7-0 run and the wheels began to come off for the Eagles. Faith struggled to score, missing easy looks at the basket. CCCB used aggressive pressure defense as well, forcing Faith into 14 first half turnovers which they converted into 19 points in the half. The result was a half time score of just 22 points for the Eagles, while CCCB doubled them up with 43.
Faith came out to start the second half able to get a few stops, but continued to struggle offensively. Faith found themselves trailing by 27 with 10 minutes to play and looked out of the game. However they didn't quit and were finally able to rally, putting together a 29-13 run over the next 7 minutes but simply ran out of time failling by the final 69-81 margin.
The difference in the game proved to be in the turnover and fg% areas, as CCCB held a 23 point edge in points off turnovers and shot 49% to the Eagles 40%.
Faith hits the court back at home on Tuesday for a match up with region opponent Crossroads College. Crossroads is currently undefeated in the region and tied for first with North Central University. That game will tip at 6 PM.
