Cross Country Season Preview
The men and women’s cross country team have hit the ground running.
Ankeny, IA– Returning six total runners, 4 men and 2 women, Coach Ryan long believes a trip Nationals is not out of the picture for this year's cross country teams! "If we can keep everyone healthy, we should have a good shot at qualifying both the men's and women's teams for Nationals this year," noted Coach Ryan Long. Should the men's team qualify, it would be the first time in school history a men's team advanced to the national meet.
Sophomore David Loveall, who finished in the top 10 at Nationals last season, leads the group of returners for the Eagles. Conrad Lobb and Caressa Kluver are also returning top runners for the Eagles and are captains for the 2023 season.
The Eagles welcome signed runners Elizabeth Beenken, Lydia Mueller, Becca Hulinsky, and Caleb Murphy, who come into the season with great times and are going to help propel the Eagles to the next level.
"They are all working hard and I expect to see their times drop as we progress through the season," said Coach Long.
The Eagles run in their first meet this Saturday, September 9, 2023 at the Grinnell Les Duke Invitational. Men will begin their race at 10:00 AM, and women will begin theirs at 11:00 AM.
