Kristin Yuan Qualifies for Nationals at Grinnell Meet
By Coach Ryan Long
It was another cold and windy weekend as the Faith Eagles track team arrived at Grinnell College on Saturday. Thankfully, the team was allowed to warm up between events in the indoor track facility!
There were several personal-best times and distances throughout the day. The primary highlight was Kristin Yuan qualifying for Nationals in the 400-meter hurdles event. She ran a tough race in the wind and cold, finishing in 74 seconds.
A couple of highlights from the men's team included Buddy LaFleur coming very close to the national qualifying mark in the javelin with a throw of 42.2 meters, placing second in the event and ending up just shy of the 43-meter standard. Faith had its first steeplechase runner of the season, with Isaak Jensen competing well in the event. The Eagles took first and second place in the men's high jump with Andy Hecker and Javon Boyd respectively.
The meet ended on a fun note with a throwers' 400-meter relay. It was expanded to include jumpers and coaches across the various schools. Our women's relay team consisted of Coach Talitha, Kyla Rounds, and Sadie Long, ending up with a 67 second time for the 400-meter distance. The men's relay team consisted of Chance Eden, Paul Farlow, Liam Shay, and Buddy LaFleur. The men placed first in the event with a time of 53 seconds!
Thanks for your support and prayers as we finish out the season this Friday at Simpson College in Indianola.
