Nihart Honored for 30 Years of Coaching
On Thursday, November 20, Faith Baptist Bible College honored coach Lanny Nihart on reaching his 30th year as the head women's volleyball coach for Faith. Coach Nihart's tenure has spanned nearly 1/3 of the entire history of athletics at Faith, and he has compiled 560 wins as the women's volleyball coach.
Beginning in 1985, Coach Nihart coached both the women's volleyball and basketball teams for 17years. In addition to his 560 wins, his teams have won 6 MCCC regular season and conference tournament championships, 6 NCCAA Regional championships, and advanced to 3 NCCAA II National tournament final fours. This year's season was his 20th winning season as a volleyball coach. While serving as the women's basketball coach, he recorded 216 wins and 11 winning seasons.
One of the biggest impacts that Coach Nihart has had on the athletic program is his focus on why we serve. The consistent testimony from his players year after year are his constant reminders about glorifying God and keeping focused on what's most important. He ties it into everything he does as a coach, and it has been his influence and leadership in that area which has helped keep athletics at Faith focused on the right priorities.
We are thankful for Coach Nihart, for his many years of godly service, for his godly influence in so many of our athletes and coaches lives, and for his unwavering commitment to excellence and service.
