Women's Volleyball Earns Sweep
Having had two practices to re-adjust after losing senior setter Stephanine Knupp to a knee injury, the Lady Eagles volleyball team rebounded nicely, sweeping the visiting Eagles of Emmaus Bible College 3-0 to earn their 9th victory of the year. Faith is now 9-6 overall, and is currently ranked #8 in the NCCAA II Top 10 poll.
Faith rolled in game one, jumping out to a double digit lead behind powerful hitting and solid passing to take game one 25-6. Emmaus responded nicely, though, in game two, jumping out to their own 4-0 lead and going toe to toe with Faith for much of the match. Faith was able to pull ahead late to take the set 25-18. The game was part of the Eagles annual High School tournament, and a packed house along with a strong contingent from Emmaus made for a fun and exciting environment.
Between the second and third sets, the Eagles took time to honor Knupp, who became the All Time Assists leader for the Eagles earlier in the year. Knupp currently has 2,937 assists for her career.
In game three, Faith jumped out to a big lead and looked like they would roll to a quick win, but Emmaus showed some resolve, battling back to tie the game. The game went back and forth for a few points before the home Eagles were able to create some space before winning by a 25-19 final.
The Eagles hit the road next weekend (Oct. 3/4) for a triangular at Ozark Christian and a conference game at Calvary Bible. The Eagles will face conference opponent Ozark Chrisitian on Friday at 4 PM, followed by non-conference foe Baptist Bible College (MO) at 6 PM. Both games will be played at Ozark Christian. Faith will travel to Calvary Bible College on Saturday for a 12 PM contest.
