
Faith Senior Jacob Kirkwood Announced As National Wheeler Award Recipient
ANKENY, Iowa—Faith senior discus and shot put thrower Jacob Kirkwood has won a major national award from the NCCAA as its 2019 Wheeler Award recipient. He was given the award on Wednesday night at the opening ceremonies of the 2019 NCCAA Track and Field National Championships where he will be competing in both the shot put and the discus on Thursday and Friday.
The award is given annually to one male and one female athlete in NCCAA competition who has performed with excellence in track and field and has exhibited Christ-like attributes on and off the field. This is the first time in the 35-year history of the award that a Faith Eagle has received this honor.
Kirkwood holds the school records at Faith for both the shot put and discus and is a 2017 NCCAA All-American.
