STORM LAKE, Iowa: The Faith track and field team began their season with a meet at Buena Vista University, where the men's team competed against several NCAA DIII and NAIA schools. Unfortunately, none of the women were able to compete due to various injuries.
The men persevered through heavy winds, and several of the Eagles placed in various events.
Freshman Josiah Brown won his heat of the 1500, and finished in eighth place. Junior Tanner Van Beek finished fifth in the javelin with a throw of 41.85m. Senior Evan McKinney finished third in the 400m hurdles with times of 1:05.07, and senior Jacob Kirkwood placed second in the shot put 14.25m and fourth in the discus with a throw of 43.72m.
Coach Sauser praised the Eagles' strong performances despite the high winds.
The Eagles will return to action this Friday and Saturday, April 5 and 6, at Central College in Pella, Iowa.
