MANHATTAN, Kansas—The Faith Eagles women's soccer team (4-1) matched the best start in school history (through five games) last night in dominating fashion, cruising to a 5-0 win over Manhattan Christian.
Lyndi Shepard led the way for the Eagles with a hat trick, scoring the game's first goal at the 8:12 mark of the first half and the second Eagles' goal of the half at the 13:26 mark. Abigail Speichinger scored the team's third goal at the 17:33 mark (her sixth of the season), and Shepard closed out the half with her third goal of the game at the 25:40 mark. Aubree Smith made it 5-0 after her third goal of the season (all in limited time at the forward position due to her goalie duties) with just under six minutes to play in the game.
The Eagles also began last season with a 4-1 record before injuries and a difficult portion of their schedule resulted in losses in six of their final seven games. The women will have a chance to continue their winning ways (and the school's best start through six games) on Thursday afternoon with a 2:00 p.m. contest at Maranatha.
