The Lady Eagles traveled to Omaha, Nebraska, on Thursday, August 29, to kick off their season against Grace University. This was the first college game for nine freshmen who joined Faith's squad this season. The freshmen and the upperclassmen played hard and kept the home team from scoring for most of the first half, until Ashley Roh scored for Grace 27 minutes into the contest. No other goals were scored in the first half, and the only other score took place early in the second half when Paola Galvan dribbled through the defense for an unassisted goal at the 46:04 mark in the game.
The Lady Eagles tallied 14 shots in the game, while Grace had 16. Freshman goalie Tayler Marinez did well in her first start as keeper with 10 saves.
"Our players played with great effort," commented Coach Mark Stupka, "but we haven't worked together long enough to develop the teamwork that we need. I'm very pleased with the individual efforts that I am seeing, and in the days ahead we will work to sharpen our skills and coordinate our efforts."
The two teams will meet in a rematch in Ankeny at 2 P.M. on Tuesday, September 10th.
