Two Eagles Finish in Top Ten at Track and Field National Championships
GREENVILLE, Illinois—The Faith Eagles track and field team completed a highly successful season last week with a pair of top ten individual performances at the NCCAA Track and Field National Championships. Kristin Yuan finished eighth in the 400-meter hurdles, while Sierra Udd finished ninth in the women's discus.
Kristin Yuan's time of 1:11.50 was just two seconds away from a top-five finish and was her personal best for the season. Daneen Hazelwood of Columbia International won the race with a time of 1:04.89. Sierra Udd's throw of 37.21 meters eclipsed her early-season PR of 35.79 meters, and her sixth-place throw of 36.79 meters in last year's national championships.
Two additional Eagles competed at the National Championships with strong efforts. Sharon Yuan finished her freshman campaign with a 14th place finish in the 400-meter hurdles. Sadie Long participated in the high jump as one of just five other freshmen in a field of 15 performers, but was unable to clear the opening round.
Faith racked up a pair of track and field honors from student-athletes' performances in the classroom as well over the weekend as Kristin Yuan and Caleb Neumann each received the NCCAA Division II Scholar-Athlete Award for their performances in the classroom.
Congratulations to Coach Ryan Long and the Faith Eagles on a terrific season!
