Defending National Champions Too Much for Eagles
ANKENY, Iowa—After winning their first two games to start the season, the Eagles faced the daunting task of finishing out a challenging stretch of four games in five days against the three-time defending national champions from Randall University. The task proved much too tall as Randall cruised to a 110-49 win, handing the Eagles their second straight loss.
The Eagles' only lead of the game was 2-0 on a Tanner Van Beek jump shot. From there, the Saints answered with an explosive 29-2 run and finished out the half with a commanding 48-16 lead. Faith committed 16 first-half turnovers and shot just 33.3% from the floor (1-6 from three).
The second half was completely dominated by Randall University, who shot a blistering 62.9% from the field, including 11-19 from three-point distance. The Saints put up 62 points in the half, nearly doubling the Eagles' output of 33.
The loss dropped the Eagles' record to 2-2 on the season. Three Eagles scored in double digits, led by Tanner Van Beek (13), Kalab Sidlinger (12), and Nathan Meinders (10).
Faith gets a much needed week off for Thanksgiving Break before returning to action on Friday, November 30 against Crown College (2-1) in Minnesota.
