Eagles Begin Weekend with Win
The Eagles hit the road this weekend for their final games before Christmas break. Their first stop was Friday afternoon at North Central University (Minneapolis, MN) for a neutral-site game against North Region opponent Oak Hills Christian College (Bemidji, MN). Faith went in prepared for it to be a close contest and came out on top with a 91-80 win.
Faith started off strong with a dunk from Jon Luke Talton right from the tip. After they went ahead, the Eagles never looked back; but every time the Eagles tried to increase their lead and pull away, Oak Hills responded. Oak Hills kept the Eagles' lead in single digits until just before the half when Faith went ahead 46-36 lead. The Eagles would enter the break holding to a 50-42 lead.
The Eagles' implementation of subbing five-in and five-out throughout the game enabled them to consistently play rested players and gave them an advantage in the second half. Faith seemed to have control of the game with a 69-61 advantage mid-way through the half, but Oak Hills would come on to make one final run at them. Oak Hills pulled to within four, 73-69, with 5:30 left to go in the game. The Eagles answered with an 11-5 run. The deficit seemed to be too much for Oak Hills to overcome, and Faith went on to earn their sixth win of the season with the 91-80 victory.
Seniors Jason Scheps and Jon Luke Talton both posted double-doubles. Talton had 22 points, while Scheps had 18, and both contributed 11 rebounds each. Josh Bray came through with 20 points and 5 assists. Chase Clark came into the game and added to the rebounding efforts with 6 rebounds.
The Eagles will travel to Watertown, WI Saturday to face another North Region opponent in Maranatha Baptist University at 4 PM.
