The Eagles faced double-trouble over the weekend with two consecutive five-set games, outlasting the Barclay Bears for a thrilling 17-15 final set victory on Friday, and fighting within four points of a loss to the Manhattan Christian College Thunder on Saturday.
Despite the heartbreaking loss to the Thunder, the Eagles have a huge reason to celebrate for bringing the seasoned Manhattan team to such a close finish. The Thunder proved to be a massive threat for the Eagles in the previous season, taking all six sets played between the two teams and going deep into Nationals pool play. The tight closeout for the game shows the new fighting spirit this Eagles squad has, and hopefully will mean a victory in the next meeting with the Thunder.
The Eagles hit the road again for another string of away matches, first playing Trinity Bible College (2-1) on September 9 at 5:00 p.m.
