After coming off back-to-back double overtime matches, the Faith soccer team put together an impressive win against Calvary University (Kansas City, MO) on Friday night. The 7-2 win gave Faith their first win in conference play.
Oleg Orlov got the action started in the 11th minute with a goal off a ball from Joseph Frerichs. Calvary answered ten minutes later, tying the game at 1-1; but Joseph Frerichs's goal broke the tie and was the start of what would be a dominating offensive performance. Jordan Schmidt went on to score 2 goals less than a minute apart.
Calvary would get another goal at the beginning of the second half, but still trailed 2-4. Olog Orlov and Joseph Frerichs each added a second goal in the game. Jason Scheps, Faith's regular goalkeeper, played the field in this game and scored his first goal of the year in the last four minutes.
Joseph Frerichs got two assists on Faith's 7 goals, while Andrew Baldwin, Oleg Orlov, and Seth Thompson each had one.
Faith improves their record to 5-1-1 after the win. The Eagles face a tough challenge next week, with three important conference games, the first being at Emmaus Bible College (Dubuque, IA) on Tuesday, October 3 at 3:30 PM.
