Men Bounce Back with Road Win

After a tough loss the previous night, Faith was back in action today against North Region opponent Providence University College (Canada).  The Eagles showed no repercussions from their disappointing game against Kansas Christian, jumping out to an 18-4 lead against Providence in the first three minutes. Faith was able to overpower Providence physically in the paint, where they scored 60 percent of their points, and came away with a 97-77 victory.

Faith's energy and intensity to start the game helped them get out in front early. The Eagles led Providence comfortably at the half 54-34. Much of Faith's offense in the half came from Jason Scheps and Ryan Kupferschmid. Jason Scheps went into halftime shooting 9-11 from the field and already having 22 points. Teammate Ryan Kupferschmid shot 4-5 from behind the arc and chipped in 16 points for the half.

The Eagles were able to put their usual second half troubles behind them and maintain their 20 point lead until the end of the game. Faith's physicality was too much for Providence to handle, as they outrebounded the Pilots 62-30 in the contest. The Eagles held a 31 point lead with five minutes to go, and their advantage over Providence allowed the Faith reserves to see a good amount of playing time in the second half. The Eagles' 97-77 win advanced their overall record to 5-1.  

Senior Jason Scheps had a career-high 39 points and also added 6 rebounds. Ryan Kupferschmid followed with 19 points and handed out 4 assists. Brothers Chase Clark and Jackson Clark provided large rebounding contributions off the bench, as Chase Clark had 8 and Jackson Clark had 9.

The Eagles will return to the court next Friday, December 9 facing another North Region opponent Oak Hills Christian College (Bemidji, MN). The game will be hosted in Minneapolis, MN at North Central University.
