Eagles Split a Weekend Series in Missouri

JOPLIN, Missouri—After a big win on Friday night over Calvary University, the Faith Eagles men's basketball team was hoping to cap the weekend with their fourth consecutive win, but Ozark Christian, a team Faith beat by 15 earlier in the season, derailed those aspirations, handing the Eagles a 96-91 loss on Saturday.

After trailing by one point at halftime against Calvary, the Eagles went on a 19-7 run over an eight-minute stretch midway through the second half to pull away from the Warriors for the 86-66 victory. Kalab Sidlinger's five three-point baskets were a huge lift for Faith as he led the way with 23 points. Noah Boyer added a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

The Eagles continued their hot shooting on Saturday, drilling 12 of 25 from three-point distance, including a big one from Kalab Sidlinger with 8 seconds left that pulled the Eagles within one, but Ozark Christian iced the game at the free throw line in the final seconds. The game saw 10 ties and 21 lead changes, and the loss spoiled a great tag-team performance from Jayce Goergen and Kalab Sidlinger, who combined for 52 points and nine three-pointers.

Faith (10-10) returns to action on Friday, February 12, against Central Christian College of the Bible in Ankeny at 7:30 p.m. for Senior Night. Just seven days remain in the regular season as Faith plays two of its final three games at home and hopes to end the season with a winning record.
