Keck Scores 37 As Eagles Improve to 2-0
LINCOLN, Nebraska—Faith freshman Nathan Keck erupted for 24 second-half points (37 for the game) as the Eagles improved their record to 2-0 Tuesday night with a 95-54 win over Union College.
Keck was 12-of-23 from the field (3-of-8 from three-point distance) and was 10-of-13 from the free-throw line. He also added a team-high 15 rebounds to complete the double-double. Tanner Van Beek continued his solid senior campaign with 19 points and is averaging 20 points per game on the season.
The two teams played evenly for the first ten minutes of the game, with Faith trailing by as many as five early on. The ten-minute mark was when the Eagles started to assert their dominance. After leading by just two (24-22), Faith went on a 15-1 run over the next four minutes to build a 14-point cushion. The Eagles' lead swelled to as many as 18 in the first half before a late rally by Union College trimmed the lead to 11 at halftime.
Keck scored the first 9 points out of the break for the Eagles, including a dunk and a three-pointer as the Eagles' lead grew to 20 points. It was all Faith from there as the Eagles outscored the Warriors 47-17 in the second half.
Faith shot 46.8% from the floor and was 8-of-26 from three-point distance. The Eagles outrebounded Union College by a 58-31 margin and scored 52 points in the paint.
Other notable performances included Chase Clark with 14 rebounds and Jayce Goergen with 13 points and 7 assists.
The Eagles return home for a trio of games beginning this Thursday through Saturday. Faith tips off against Kansas Christian College Thursday night at 6:00 p.m. The Falcons are 3-3 on the season.
