Eagles Back in Win Column with Victory over Emmaus
DUBUQUE, Iowa—After back-to-back losses to high-caliber opponents, the Faith Eagles men's basketball team got back in the win column Tuesday night with an 83-72 win over Emmaus Bible College in Dubuque.
Faith overcame a sluggish start to the game, shooting a dismal 28.9 percent from the field in the first half (3-of-9 from three). Emmaus built a seven-point lead with 4:47 to play before the Eagles cut it to two at halftime.
The Eagles trailed the first five minutes of the second half before a Jason Conable jumper tied the game at 50 with 14:37 to play. The game remained tight all the way until the five-minute mark when Nathan Keck made a pair of back-to-back jumpers to stretch Faith's lead to nine as the Eagles pulled away late in the game. Keck led all scorers with 32 points on 14-of-29 shooting (2-of-6 from three).
Faith did a much better job of protecting the basketball against Emmaus, committing just 10 turnovers for the game. After the rough first half of shooting, they fared much better in the second half, connecting on 54.1 percent of their shots, including 4-of-6 from three-point distance.
The Eagles improved to 11-8 on the season and head to Moberly, Missouri, to take on Central Christian College of the Bible (9-11) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles defeated the Saints, 73-70, earlier this year.
