Faith Out-Muscles Emmaus for Fifth Win in Last Six Games
ANKENY, Iowa—The Faith Eagles scored 66 of their 89 points in the paint Tuesday night, as they cruised to an easy 34-point win over Emmaus Bible College. It was the fifth win in the last six games for the tenth-ranked Eagles, who continue to play great basketball as they enter the stretch run of the season.
Faith's inside presence was too much for Emmaus, outrebounding the opposing Eagles 69-30. Faith's bench played a major role in the win as well, contributing 33 points, compared to just six points from the Emmaus bench.
Emmaus kept things close up until the midway point of the first half. From the 10:28 mark until the 1:13 mark, Faith capitalized on a 22-4 run to blow the game wide open.
Offensive rebounding was the difference in the game. Faith secured 35 offensive boards, which were five more than the total number of rebounds for the entire game for Emmaus. The Eagles converted those offensive rebounds into 18 second-chance points.
Nathan Keck and Chase Clark did the bulk of the damage on the offensive glass for Faith. Keck had seven offensive rebounds, while Clark had six offensive rebounds. Keck and Clark both posted double-doubles for the game—Keck with 22 points and 13 rebounds; Clark with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Noah Boyer and Sam Carstensen did work on the offensive glass off the bench as well, contributing nine offensive rebounds and 11 points between the two of them.
Faith returns to action Friday night with a home contest against Ecclesia at 8:30 p.m. The Royals are 3-18, but have played a daunting schedule against numerous large schools, including some NCAA Division I opponents.
