Clark and Van Beek Shine on Senior Night
ANKENY, Iowa—It was all smiles on Senior Night for the Faith Eagles men's basketball team as the school honored two talented seniors (Tanner Van Beek and Chase Clark) who will be greatly missed next year. Van Beek and Clark made the most of their special evening, leading the team in scoring, and putting the Eagles back into the win column after a tough loss the night before.
Van Beek had 18 points and 6 rebounds, while Clark finished with 17 points and 15 rebounds to lead the way for the Eagles in an easy, lighthearted 93-55 win over Oak Hills Christian.
The highlight of the game came at the 4:07 mark when both seniors connected on back-to-back three-point baskets—the first made three-pointers of the season for both of them. The buckets came within 25 seconds of each other, bringing the bench to its feet, and smiles to all of the coaches and fans with the game well in hand.
The Eagles shot the ball well, connecting on 47.5 percent of their shots, including 8-of-19 from three-point distance. Faith outrebounded an overmatched and outmanned Oak Hills team 55-22, and scored 52 points in the paint, compared to just 14 for Oak Hills, who dressed only six players for the game.
Coach Brian Fincham was able to get his bench players plenty of minutes, with Jaeden Gerig leading all bench scorers with 10 points, a new career-high.
With the win, the Eagles improved their record to 9-6 overall, and have won four of their last five games. Faith returns to action on Tuesday, January 21, at 6:00 p.m. with a conference matchup against Emmaus Bible College (1-10) at 6:00 p.m.
