Eagles Sharp in Win Over Ozark Christian
ANKENY, Iowa—There was no rust or Christmas cookie hangover for the Faith Eagles men's basketball team in their first game back from winter break Friday evening. The Eagles (6-5) looked sharp in an 84-75 win over Ozark Christian College (4-9) who has played some stiff competition this season.
Faith was in control for most of the game, leading by as many as 15 at one point. Ozark Christian's only lead of the evening was 13-12. The Eagles did the majority of their damage inside the paint and at the free-throw line, scoring 64 of their 84 points from those two spots.
Tanner Van Beek and Chase Clark were a load for Ozark Christian, combining for 28 points and 11 rebounds (six offensive) and opened things up for Jayce Goergen and Kalab Sidlinger who led the way with 18 points and 17 points respectively.
The Eagles were just 6-of-21 from three-point distance, but shot 47 percent for the game, overall. The play of the game, however, came with 1:28 remaining, on a made three-pointer from Kalab Sidlinger after Ozark had cut the lead to four.
The Eagles return to action Saturday afternoon with a 4:00 tip against Central Christian College (weather permitting).
