Eagles Fall to Southwestern College in Christmas Tourney Final
DALLAS, Texas—The Faith Eagles faced one of the highest-scoring opponents they will face all season in the championship game of the Christmas Tournament in Dallas, Texas, Tuesday afternoon, falling to Southwestern College of Winfield, Kansas, by the score of 101-53.
Southwestern College (9-5) averages over 91 points per game and scored 153 against Dallas Christian College earlier this season. Faith's defense was tested early and often, with Southwestern jumping to a 29-9 lead with 11:11 remaining in the first half. It was a deficit the Eagles were never able to recover from as Southwestern built its lead to as many as 54 in the win.
Faith was outscored in the post, 62-32, and was outrebounded 38-20 by the Moundbuilders, who featured six players 6-7 or taller.
The Eagles were able to get their bench some good minutes in the game, with every player seeing at least eight minutes of action. Chase Clark led the bench scoring with 10 points, followed by Brett Larson with five, Jaeden Gerig with three, Sam Carstensen with two, and Simon Allen with two.
With the loss, Faith fell to 5-5 on the season as they head home for Christmas Break.
Faith returns to action on Friday, January 10, with a home game against Ozark Christian College at 3:00 p.m.
