Eagles Run Well at Grand View Invitational
September 14, 2020
The first cross country meet of the season was a success for the Faith Eagles on Friday for the Grand View University Meet at Ankeny's DMACC campus. Unfortunately, no spectators were allowed, so the coaches and managers were the only cheering voices for our athletes.
Josiah Brown paced the men with a time of 31:54.8, which was good enough to qualify him for the national meet at the end of the season. Zach Lobb finished with a time of 37:06.2, and Isaiah Crute finished his first collegiate meet with a time of 42:15.2
Chelsea Brown led the way for the ladies with a time of 24:33.9. Finishing close behind her was freshman Laney Jones with a time of 24:51.2, and Emily Anderson with a time of 26:55.6
"The team all ran well for the first meet of the season, and helped us see where we need to spend some extra time during practices in the coming weeks," said Coach Long. "The second mile included some extra muddy areas, so the times were slower for that portion of the race. Given the meet schedule changes, we have a few weeks to work on some areas of improvements before the NIACC meet in Mason City. I am looking forward to seeing how they all improve at the next meet as they honor the Lord with the talents and abilities He has given them."
