XC Team Participates at Wartburg
It was a beautiful morning for Saturday's meet as the Faith cross country team prepared to race at the Dan Huston Invitational at Wartburg College. The entire team was feeling good and ready to compete!
The men ran their 8k first, followed by the women's 6k. Senior Dewey Rapson led the Faith men, with Freshman Tyler Dingle not far behind. Tyler finished just a little over a minute off the national qualifying mark, and he is hoping to be able to keep working on trimming time this week to be able to hit that mark at the next race! Senior Nathan Bruce and Junior Josiah Genung unfortunately made a wrong turn on the course during the second mile, and had to end their race early.
Junior Wendy Busenitz led the Faith women along with Sophomore Abigail Blomberg and Freshman Abigail Lobb. Blomberg ran a great race and came within 13 seconds of the women's national qualifying mark! She is caring for shin splints, so the team is praying that Abbie's legs will heal and allow her to compete well in the final 2 events before they head to Mississippi for the national meet!
The team has this weekend in order to allow them to help with the Faithfest event hosted at FBBC. It will also give them time to rest before their next race on Friday, October 13, in Mason City, IA at NIACC.
