Busenitz Time Qualifies for Nationals
The Faith Eagles Cross Country team participated in their first meet of the season in Pella, IA at the Central College XC Course. The course conditions and the weather made it a great day for the Eagles first meet.
Because the men's event was a 6k race, it would not be considered an NCCAA national qualifying event, as it must be an 8k to be counted as a national event; however, the women's 5k race was an NCCAA qualifying event, and Junior Wendy Busenitz's time of 21:57 qualified her for the NCCAA national meet in Mississippi in November!
The men's team consists of Senior Dewey Rapson, Junior Josiah Genung, and Freshman Tyler Dingle. The women's team also has three athletes: Junior Wendy Busenitz, Sophomore Abigail Blomberg, and Freshman Abigail Lobb. All six of the Faith runners ran hard, despite a couple of injuries that they had been working through. The team is looking forward to a great season and hopes to honor God through their testimony at every race.
The team will travel to Grinnell, IA this Saturday, September 9, for the Les Duke Cross Country Invitational hosted at Grinnell College.
