Busenitz, Bruce Run Season Bests in Final Tune Up for Nationals
The Faith Cross Country Team made the trip to Joplin, Missouri on Friday and Saturday for the Ozark Christian College Last Chance Meet. The weather was beautiful and the crushed gravel trail provided excellent footing. We competed against 4 other schools, including an NCCAA Division I school.
The Lady Eagles went out fast, led by sophomore Wendy Busenitz. She ran a tough race, pushed faster by a competitor from Ecclesia College. Busenitz stayed within striking distance the entire race, and ran a season best 20:52, finishing just 19 seconds behind the first place runner! Sophomores Taylor Ballard and Kaitlyn Peters ran strong as well, covering the 5k distance in 24:24 and 24:49 respectively.
Juniors Dewey Rapson and Nathan Bruce ran the 8k race in 33:27 and 36:35 respectively. Bruce's time was a season best by over 2 minutes! He joined the team part way through the season, and has continued to work hard and improve, along with the rest of the team.
We are now down to the final 2 weeks of the cross country season, with our trip to Mississippi in 10 days being our only remaining meet. Please pray for renewing of our minds and bodies as we strive to prepare well and do our best for God's honor and glory.
