Rapson Qualifies for National Meet
The weather was beautiful on Saturday in Waverly as the Faith XC team headed out onto the course at Wartburg College. There had been a light rain earlier that morning, so it didn't take long for our shoes and socks to become completely soaked. Despite the heavy rains earlier in the week, the course was in good shape and everyone ran well.
Sophomore Wendy Busenitz led the way for the Faith women, running the 6k course in a very fast time of 25:45. This put her in 22nd place overall for the meet and she received a t-shirt for being in the top 30! Sophomore Kaitlyn Peters finished in a time of 30:54 followed closely by Sophomore Taylor Ballard who ran it in 31:16. Both of these ladies continue to run strong and are getting very close to the national qualifying mark for the women's race.
Sophomore Dewey Rapson ran the men's 8k race in a time of 32:43. We are excited for him, since he will now be joining Wendy in representing Faith at the NCCAA National Cross Country Meet in November! Dewey ran well under the qualifying time of 34 minutes, and continues to improve each race.
Please continue to pray for the team as we work hard the next couple of weeks in practices before our next meet on Saturday 10/22. The meet on 10/22 will be our first home meet, and we would love to have you join us on Faith campus for the women's 5k at 10:00 and the men's 8k at 11:00. If you would like to run with the team, send an email to athletics@faith.edu and we will get you registered! We hope to have a big crowd of runners and supporters join us that day as it is our cross country team fundraiser. The cost to register to run is $1 for Faith students, $5 for Faith alumni, and $10 for anyone else. And if you are fast enough, the top 3 finishers will each receive a Faith t-shirt! Please plan to come out and run or cheer us on!
