Busenitz Cruises to Season Opening Win, Qualifies for National Meet
Race day morning in Moberly Missouri was bright and sunny as the men's and women's cross country teams warmed up on the Central Christian College of the Bible 5k course. However, the night before was a downpour of rain, so the course was quite soggy and slow.
This was the smallest meet of our season, with only two other schools in attendance. Sophomore Dewey Rapson had gotten a clean bill of health from the doctor regarding his knee the day before the race, so this was his first opportunity to run in over a week. He competed well, and ended up in 8th place overall.
The women's race was composed of five runners, and the sophomore women from Faith took first, third, and fourth. Wendy Busenitz's first place finish was well under the national qualifying time, so she will be competing in the NCCAA National CC meet in November! Taylor Ballard and Kaitlyn Peters placed third and fourth in the event, both running strong despite the wet conditions.
We are looking forward to a great season of running for the glory of God! Please pray with us that He will be honored by our testimony at each practice and race.
