About Lanny:

Lanny joined the athletic staff in 1984 as the women's volleyball and basketball coach. Lanny spent the first 18 years of his coaching career with both the Lady Eagle's basketball and volleyball teams. During that time he amassed a basketball record of 216-146. In 2004 Coach Nihart resigned as the women's basketball coach to focus his efforts exclusively on volleyball. Lanny's volleyball teams have enjoyed extended success, earning three final four appearances at NCCAA DII National Tournament.

Lanny attended Faith before transferring to American Institute of Business where he earned his B.A. in Accounting. Lanny works as a budget analyst for the state of Iowa. He is married to his wife Sandy, and has three children (Erin, Eric, Jay).
