Eagles Win Fourth Straight
Faith defeated Spurgeon College in Kansas City on Tuesday.
Kansas City, MO - Faith won their fourth in a row and seventh game out of their last eight Tuesday night with a 3-1 road win at Spurgeon College.
Faith won set one comfortably with a 25-15 victory, before taking a step back in set two. In what would be the only challenge of the night for Faith, the host Knights stuck with the Eagles for the entirety of the set. Faith trailed 19-21 but managed to earn a 3-0 run to take a 22-21 lead and a chance to take the set. Out of a timeout, Spurgeon tied it back up, but Faith responded with two more points, now leading 24-22 with a chance to win. Unfortunately, a service error followed by a ball-handling error tied the game at 24 apiece. The two teams then traded points, with Faith earning leads of 25-24 and 26-25, but still unable to earn the set winning point. Spurgeon broke the stalemate, earning three consecutive kills to take the set and tie the match at one game apiece. Faith woke up after that, winning set three 25-18 and set four 25-19 to take the 3-1 victory.
Faith was led by Rachel Forgie, who had 16 kills on the night. Faith is now 16-6 on the year and will next be in action on Thursday at Maranatha Baptist University for a 7:00 PM match, followed by a game against Grace Christian University on Friday. That game will be played at Emmaus Bible College at 6:00 PM.
