Women’s Volleyball Falls to Maranatha, 3-0
ANKENY, Iowa—The unrelenting schedule of top-caliber opponents continued for the Eagles Friday night as Faith took on the Sabercats of Maranatha, who finished as the #2 ranked team in the nation in last season's final poll.
The Eagles had another stellar crowd on-hand with a raucous student section, but their unwavering support was not enough to lift the Eagles to victory as Maranatha rolled through three straight sets (25-12, 25-16, 25-9).
Faith had its bright spots, including strong contributions from a promising freshmen class. Rachel Kleczka, a 5'10" freshman from Shawnee Mission Christian co-led the Eagles with two kills. Makenna Laib, a freshman from Ankeny, Iowa, led the team in digs with eight and assists with four. Morgan Stephens, a freshman from Fourth Baptist Christian School in Minneapolis, had the team's lone service ace. Amy Boggess, of Lighthouse Academy in Charles City, Iowa, and Anissa Greiner of Owatonna Christian School in Owatonna, Minnesota, are both freshmen starters as well.
The Eagles will look for their first win of the season on Thursday at Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska, at 6:00 p.m.
