Eagles Make it Five in a Row
The Faith volleyball team sustained their undefeated record in MCCC conference play Saturday defeating Central Christian College of the Bible 3-0. Faith is now 6-7 overall.
The Eagles were never threatened during the match, however they also did not dominate. "CCCB did a good job of playing through each set. We had the advantage in terms of strength but that showed to us we have to play hard every match and volley. We let several balls drop and our energy and enthusiasm was low," noted coach Nihart.
Faith started each set strong and were led by NCCAA Player of the Week, senior Alyssa Larson with 11 kills and 10 digs. "Alyssa has really played well over the course of the last two weeks. We are excited she received recognition from the NCCAA last week, and her leadership to this team on and off the court has been exemplenary," noted Nihart.
Sophomore outside hitter Charity Appell added eight kills and eight digs while setter Emilie Morton provided 30 assists.
"We have been able to capture consecutive victories. This next weekend will be a test for us with a rematch with Baptist Bible College who defeated us in a 5th set during Spikefest. Then we will take on conference favorite Manhattan Christian College. If we can get those two wins we will have realized some real growth in our team," stated Nihart.
Faith will face BBC at 7 PM on Friday night, followed by Manhattan at 3:30 PM on Saturday.
